Academic Corporations in ItalyThe whole of traditional Italian academic societies is called goliardia, the single society ordine goliardico («goliardic order» or «student order»), plural: ordini goliardici. Their history goes back to the year 1888, but most of them came up between 1946 and 1950. All of them accept men and women as members. There are about eighty of them today, mostly in northern Italy. Apart from the goliardia, there are two middle-European style academic corporations in Rome. Links
